Blessed Virgin Mary Our Lady of Guadalupe Helper of Pregnant Women

I must be a special woman. I'm bearing in my body another person, a tiny fragile life. With expectant wonder I think about the day when the child growing in my heart and my womb might be held in my arms. Who will this child be, what is the meaning of this Word spoken into my flesh? Who will He grow up to be, what will His precious face look like? Will His gaze penetrate my soul, will He awaken in me a love beyond myself? My love for Him will be second only to His love for me. Will He touch lives, will He bring joy and hope to many others? My heart is heavy with questions about my worthiness to hold this life within me. Yet I'm confident that God, who for some reason has knit this child into my womb, will give me the courage to accept all of the struggles of motherhood. If God has put new life into my flesh, surely He will give me the grace to joyfully embrace this soul living and moving inside me. Our hearts now beat in concert; I should have no doubt that this child is a gift from God. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate the permanent bond between this baby and me. Even when this child is no longer in my womb, I can't help but carry Him in my heart forever. God, give me the strength to look beyond today's worries and to trust Your plan for our intertwined lives. May I give myself totally to this child and receive the greatest gift You give, new life. “If today I hear His voice, may I harden not my heart."
